AGENCY WORKSHOPS

WHO YOU ARE: You are an agency that uses both internal and external resources for talent negotiation. Your team is the best in the biz for finding the the right talent for your client’s programming, but falls short or has challenges when it comes negotiating and papering the deal.

YOUR CHALLENGE: Too much time is spent with senior leadership fixing errors that could have been caught sooner. Too much money is spent with legal reviewing business terms that should have been clearly defined in initial negotiation. Out of pocket expenses are now being requested from talent that were not negotiated in the agreement.

HOW I CAN HELP: I work closely with your leadership team to better understand your challenges and create custom content for a workshop for your entry-to-mid level staff (or anyone who works with contracts). We can cover everything from the basics of talent procurement including what to expect from the talent when negotiating a contract, key business terms (e.g., usages, services, exclusivity) and what they really mean for the execution of your agreement to SAG/AFTRA implications and FTC requirements. All workshops will also cover best practices on working with your/your client’s legal team and third party talent negotiators.

BRAND WORKSHOPS

WHO YOU ARE: You are a busy brand executive that uses your communications team or agency for talent negotiation. You are already stretched thin and trust your teams to find the best talent for your brand’s programming. However, when it comes to finalizing the contract you aren’t sure what to ask for when it comes to the contracted services (or the implications the ask(s) may have on the overall program).

YOUR CHALLENGE: After the agreement is signed, you find out that it doesn’t allow you to do what you really need it to do. The talent is now asking for additional money for items that weren’t originally negotiated. You don’t understand why your budget is responsible for paying for union contributions or payroll taxes, when the person is not your employee and you are not a union member. You need the 101 on how to ensure that you and your teams get the most out of every talent relationship that your brand enters into.

HOW I CAN HELP: I will work closely with your leadership team to better understand your challenges and create custom content for your team. We will cover everything from the difference between a spokesperson and ambassador, defining key business terms (e.g., usages, services, exclusivity) and what they really mean for the execution of your agreement, as well as SAG/AFTRA implications and the pros and cons of contracting directly or through a third party (agency/buyer). All workshops will also cover best practices on working with your/your agency’s legal team and third party talent negotiators.
